At a special called meeting May 16, 2016, the Shelby County Board of Education approved this proposed budget as the one to be submitted to the Shelby County Commission. The commission funds about half of the general fund (the other half is funded by the state). There are other funds, CIP, Nutrition, etc.
some of which are funded by the county, some by the United States government, and some, perhaps, by the state.
Superintendent Dorsey Hopson and other top administrators of Shelby County Schools will appear before the County Commission 8:30 a.m. May 25, 2016, to officially deliver and explain its budget and funding request for the school district.
