Harry Moore [last updated April, 2007]
J.P. Snider and I left Snowden School in 1948 to start at East High. I was in the first nine year class to graduate. I remember Rose Parkinson, Mr. Doutin, Mr. Hazelwood, Samuel Daniel Moore, Rose Miller, and many others of note. Miss Mary Morphis was my home room teacher in high school. Upon graduation I went on six months active duty in the U.S. Army. Since this turned out to be nothing like the brochure, I decided that college did not seem that bad after all.
I attended Memphis State University, Christian Brothers College, and The University of Tennessee at Knoxville where I graduated from the Business College in 1966. I married Sharon Van Horn of Oak Ridge & Kingston also a UT graduate. We moved to Memphis where I worked for Procter & Gamble (Buckeye) Cellulose Corporation for 26 years in various management jobs and for State Technical Institute as Director of the Physical Plant.
I left my home of 59 years in 1998 to take a management job in the Physical Plant of UT Knoxville where I am responsible for construction and repairs. Our son and daughter live in Knoxville too. We have one grandson. My sister Elzabeth (Bette class of '56) still lives in Memphis and my sister Patricia (class of '70) lives in Maryland. Being a firm believer in the Judeo-Christian faith, I regularly attend church usually sitting in the choir loft. I enjoy vegetable gardening when I have time.
Before leaving Memphis I had some contact with Charles Rond, Roy Ericson, and Dan Whipple. I sang in a choir with Dan for a time. Bruce Robison and I keep up some since we both live in Knoxville. He is out of the country a lot. I live just off the highway to Gatlinburg which is 35 miles away making some friends jealous. I will not attend the reunion but wish all my classmates well.

Bruce Robison [last updated March, 2007]
After graduation from East High School, I attended The University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Before graduating from The University of Tennessee, I enlisted in the United States Army and spent 3 years working for the Office of the Surgeon General of the United States. After service, I returned to U.T. and finished my Bachelor of Science degree. Moving to St Louis, I found myself working at the Research Center of Monsanto Chemical Company for a couple of years. I then returned to Knoxville, where I was employed by The University of Tennessee and later Rohm & Haas Chemical Company.
After five years, I joined Tennessee Valley Authority in planning/scheduling and cost estimating for their nuclear program. Fifteen years later, I left to do subcontracting/consulting work in the nuclear industry, including environmental cleanup. During this time, I became active in scuba diving, became a Dive Instructor and started going to diving locations around the world.
Eventually growing tired of the nuclear industry, I took up what was to become my current business (World Films & Travel) for the last 10 years; that of leading groups on diving trips around the world and safaris to Africa. I have been shooting both stills and video for many years and have built up an underwater digital video library from locations around the world. My diving adventures have led me to the Red Sea, Tanzania, South Africa, PNG, Milne Bay, Thailand, Philippines, Bali, Hawaii, Coco Island, Galapagos, Tahiti, and all over the Caribbean. I have recorded the day-to-day lives of many of the wild animals in Africa from my numerous trips to South Africa, Kenya, and Tanzania. My films have been shown locally and in several film festivals in the USA.

I have been living in the Los Angeles for 35 years, since I was married. I have three children who aren't really children any more. Lisa is 26 and is a ceramist living in San Francisco. She sells her fine ceramics all over the US. She is in one of the stores at The Peabody. The name is Lisa Michelle. Daniel, our 29 year old son has lived in Bangkok for 4 years and is the head investment analyst with Credite Lyonnaise. Joel, the eldest is a producer of tv music videos and commercials. No one is married and two have serious relationships. My husband, Jack is semi-retired and is in the advertising specialty business, corporate gift items. He plays a lot of tennis nowadays and even comes in to my office quite often. I have had a travel agency for 19 years and have 21 agents working with me. I am successful and love coming to work each day..it is very rewarding. My hobbies are tennis, bridge and working out at the gym.

Well, here I am again with an update. I have been a widow since 2008 and have recently moved back to LaPlace, LA from McComb, MS. I raised my children here in LaPlace, so it is "home" for me. I am really glad to be back, I was gone for 10 years. I would still love to here from former friends and acquaintances.

Kenneth T. Jackson [last updated January, 1997] [E-mail address updated January, 2010]
Ken entered East High as a fourth grader on the day that the school opened in 1948. He attended East for more than seven years and would have been a member of the Class of 1957, but he transferred to White Station High School in 1955 and was a member of that institution's first graduating class. Three sisters, however, Carol ('54), Betty ('60), and Margaret ('62) graduated from East. Ken went on to the University of Memphis (B.A., 1961) and the University of Chicago (M.A., Ph.D., 1963 and 1966) before serving three years in the Air Force. He then went on to a career of writing and teaching. Since 1968, he has taught at Columbia University, where he is now Jacques Barzun Professor of History and the Social Sciences and Chairman of the Department of History. His most recent publication is "The Encyclopedia of New York City" published by Yale University Press. He received the University of Memphis' Distinguished Alumni Award in 1989. He is married to the former Barbara Ann Bruce, a 1957 graduate of South Side in Memphis. They now reside in New York, with an apartment in Manhattan and a house in Westchester County.
