The
Shelby County Tennessee Board of Education regularly meets at its
administration building, 160 South Hollywood Street, Memphis, TN.
The meetings are held in the Coe building auditorium. Entrance to the publicly open meetings is best from the rear of the building. Please note the building is normally accessible by employees only or by going through a security check point at the front of the building. For evenings when the Board meets, however, the doors at the rear of the building which are closer to the auditorium are open for public access. See map below for information for parking and best door to enter. Regular board "work sessions" and "business meetings" start at 5:30 p.m.
No public comment period is provided at the "work sessions." At the "business meeting" and special called meetings, a period of up to 30 minutes is allowed for public comment, with the maximum time allotted per person being 3 minutes. If more than 10 people sign up to speak, each person's time is reduced so that the comments will fit in the 30 minute period. Persons wishing to speak must sign up to do so before the meeting between 5 and 5:30 p.m.
